Many thanks and a update from Afghanistan
« on: April 15, 2011, 02:57:00 PM »
Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to give everyone an update on the progress at our range.
Just incase you didn't know, several of our trad gang members have gone above and beyond to help improve the quality of life for your soldiers overseas. As well as spread the sport of traditional archery.  With several generous donations we have started an archey range at our fob, FOB Connolly. Located in close proximity to Jalalabad, the second largest city in Afghanistan. At current we have a ever growing number of shooters and people interested in our sport. We currently have a single 25 meter range at our disposal but have plans to expand to a 4 lane range. Our current line up is 5 trad. recurves and 2 targets. With close to 80 various arrows. Almost all of it donated by our great tradgang community!
I would like take a moment to name off our contributers to date. These are the gentleman making a positive difference in the moral of our fighting men and for the growing our great sport. Enought good things can not be said about their generous deeds.

Vern Pratt
Bud Baylock
Glen Herman
Dan Albright
Jon Fehr
Elmer Servis, and the rest of the guys of Black Diamond Archery

Thank you from myself, SGT Aaron Kirkendall, and all the Soliders of 1-61 Cavalry Squardron, 101st Airborne Division

Salute, thank you for what you do. anything on your wish list for the two way Is there archery range?
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. TGMM ♥

Dan, that lefty is a shakespeare that Bud sent over to us. Good eye!
As for our current wish list, we were thinking about ordering some additional targets for when we expand the range. As well as some various string silencers and a range of feild tip weights.

Thank you guys for all the support you have provided us. The boys and I have something cooked up for you all and we can't wait to give somthing back to everyone who has helped us out.

Thank you again.

Glad to see the southpaw being used. Us right minded people need to look out for each other

We all need to look out for our troops and each other while our troops are looking out for us and the rest of the free world.

Thanks for the update Aaron.

Yep that is G.W.   One of the guys found a stencil of it somewhere and we all taged a shirt with it along with almost everything else that we could get away with......we all think its pretty funny over here.

As for field tips go, we have 125 grains over here now and would like to try to proper tune some of our bows with some heavier ones.
