What is the hunting like around san luis? I was given some land in wild horse mesa 5 acres ( I know not alot ) but it sits on a 37,000 acre ranch and land owners get to hunt the property for free.Went to ck it out last week and it is beautiful up on the mountain and in the valleys. Saw mule deer and elk ( actually come down the mountain onto my property )even a couple of mountain goats on the rock cliffs. Now just need to find some hunting buddys.

Access to a 37,000 acre ranch in Colorado? I betting you are going to find a bunch of new hunting buddies!
Sounds like a very cool deal - enjoy!!

I've hunted down there a bunch (San Louis Valley) and have done very, very well. My father-in-law was born and raised down there so that helps out a lot.

from what I gathered talking to the ranch head guy hardly any hunting at all no bowhunting that he knows of. Went to the department of wildlife while I was out there for rules and fees. 100.00 for mulie tag and 530.00 for either sex elk tag. not to bad if I get help with the gas from texas with the rv it shouldn't be bad bad of a hunt. It sure beats the 5,000 to 10,000 I have been seeing for elk hunts. I'm a poor boy would never have been able to go on one of those hunts
