Should be pretty easy for you.

If they're wooden arrows the grain should be horizontal   -------   to the string which is vertical |

Which means the nock is going to look something like this... )(

I hope this helped.  I'm not at home and don't have pictures available right now.

If they're not wooden I just typed some and helped you none.    :)

The proper way to install a nock on a wood shaft is to have the rift of the arrow pointing toward the tip - the indexer would vary depending on whether you are shooting cock feather in or out (on a three fletch). You rarely see anyone mention this but it is what it is. I have no idea what the people selling wood arrows do, this is what I do. You should also spine your arrows with them placed correctly on the tester (rift towards you and checking spine with the side of the shaft which "bends" around the bow).

ok im thinking if i put the rift up it will be down also. ok my nocks have no index same both ways. now the $64,000.00 ? is RRAMING what do you mean by

to have the rift of the arrow pointing toward the tip - the indexer would vary depending on whether you are shooting cock feather in or out (on a three fletch).

im feeling really stupid and
i may be reading into this too much but i want it as right as i can get it.
please bear with me im having a moment with this for sure

B44-

To install the nock, get some fletch-tite and squirt a little in the nock and simply press it onto the shaft.  if the nock is not indexed (doesn't have a little bump on it), it doesn't matter which side is up, just make sure the throat of the nock is parallel with the grain of the arrow (they form V's).  When you fletch the arrows, put them in the fletching jig with the V's pointing toward you when you fletch the cock feather if you shoot with the cock feather out.

hope this helps
