Last year I was fortunate enough to take an elk hunting trip to CO. Even though this trip was a dream hunt it put a hurting on my regular deer hunting. So, this coming year I plan to do as much deer hunting as I can. For the last 3 years I used only bows and arrows I've made my self...osage self bow(or sinew backed) and hardwood shoot arrows with stone(not of my making) points. I'm hoping this will be the year I make meat with it.  If for some reason it doesn't happen, I'll try again the next year or until I do.
Like many have said,"it's the journey, not the destination". Even though this journey is taking a long time, when the destination is accomplished the journey is over!..and I enjoy the journey too much.    Pat

My brother and I got a bonus point in Iowa so we hope we get drawn this year.  Some mighty nice deer up in corn country.  Probably go in late October if we get drawn.

Claudia,

You are heading towards "Merriams-Central".  Several states to choose from within driving distance.  The blackhills includingboth SD and WY have loads of them.

from now until the end of Feb cotton tail (no one doing small game?)

April/May: spring turkey.

August/Sept: elk/mule deer.

Wish I could do more but still have to make a living and keep the family happy.
