First Board Bow Update

Posted my first board bow a few weeks ago in its raw form. Quick recap. Started as 72" red oak 1x2. 67" string with 7.25 brace. Goal was 45 @ 29. Hit it but lost nearly 2 shooting in. Overall, very pleased. I shoot it much more consistently than my factory longbows and recurves. Mostly because nice light wt and long. Really able to use good form. Quiet and and quite smooth. Currently shooting arrows that are too stiff and still hitting where looking at least at turkey and deer range. After initial post in the raw, I finally shaped handle and sight window. Stained with Gel Stain I had laying around. Backed in brown paper. Used a small scrap of carpet folded to expose loops and dabbed on stain. Was going for open style camo, impressionistic/digital branch meandering up bow. As I started dabbing, rattlesnake skin came to mind...so kind of went with the flow. I guess I should patent it as RattleBranch--HA HA! I think it actually is quite effective especially in the dappled, indirect light. Couldn't help but take a bunch of pics so please indulge me. Thanks for viewing. If you haven't made one, give it a try!
If only the real deal would now cooperate. Haven't even heard a bird this year. Last 3 yrs they have been almost easy to call in range just 40 yds from my house.
If you weren't that impressed with my work, at least I know 2 who are pretty excited for me

Looks like a fine bow for a first, or tenth! Those board bows are sure fun to build. Nice camo, and I really like the two-toned belly too.

All that from a $5.00 board and a little work! And to think they sell bows for $1800? Nice job and keep building! Full draw pics are required when showing off a homemade bow mister!

Excellent job on your bow my friend. I myself made one last summer and have made it my goal to shoot it this hunting season. Good luck to you. What are the final specs on your bow?
