Zephyr Broadheads?

I just received my new Zephyr Scirocco glue-on broadheads from Horne's Archery. I am very impressed with the construction and blade sharpness. I have a couple of questions though. Since the Horne's are out of town, I thought I would look for advice here. When I try and mount them with the bleeder blade installed they don't even come close to sliding all the way onto my shaft taper. Without the bleeder blades they slide completely onto my shaft taper. What should I do? Should I just snip the end of the taper off? I hesitate to do this because I feel it will weaken the end of the arrow,with such a short taper. This is my first experence with a glue-on broadhead with bleeders. I usually use a 2-blade Magnus. Any advice would be appreciated.

Bill... a coping saw makes a nice cut for the bleeder slot. You can also use a Dremel or hacksaw for the same purpose.

Here's one I heard but never tried... With the head mounted and glued take a bleeder and heat it red hot (I mean RED HOT) push it through the slot and "burn" it open.
Like I said, never tried it myself and suspect it would only work with cedar shafting.

I have never found the short taper to be a problem. If you are worried, you could use 5 minute epoxy to strengthen the bond.

I have used used them a lot and you will only have to cut off probably 3/16th of an inch of the taper.  It will not have any effect on the strength ont the joint between shaft and broadhead.  They make a heck of a hole through a critter!  Joseph

Thanks for the replies I really appreciate it. I will try snipping off the end of one of my tapers first. Then I might try the coping saw method. I just didn't want to reck a good cedar shaft.
