pics are not real good,(cell phone)
i went out this mornning and took two decoys with me , a hen and a jake.
already had a little natural blind built from last fall,so i set the decoys at about 8 yds.
got them set and owl hooted with my mornning voice, wasnt too good but it worked.
a double gobble before i was done hooting,
wasnt to far away , maybe a 150 yds. if that.
got my spandex headnet on and settled in an started scanning as far as i could see to my left cause thats the direction the gobbles came from.
i made some clucks and soft yelps,
another 10 min. and theres a head popping up the side of the ridge, one, two, three,
JAKES, cool this aughto be good, i thought as my heart rate took off.
i was set on a saddle . i had 10 gobblers on me here last fall but got busted.
(if you look real close you can see my pink fur tracer at the bottom of the black log sticking straight up)
the jakes came in behind the log and then came to my jake decoy not the hen,one was all blowed up and getting all sideways like he was gonna jump on my decoy, one other one was abouthalf blowed up, and the last one(the youngest)kept eyeballing me, might be the one i had an encounter with friday at the same place.
the one that was in strutt finally turned with his head behind his fan and i started my draw,
perfect i was thinking!!
then my bottom limb bumped a limb and as i scooted to get clearence i guess i lost my concetration.
the arrow slipped rite over his back at about 7-8 yds............hmmm.
as i tried to get another arrow out of my quiver and on the string, one of them caught me and started putting ,
i tried to raise up and get a shot but they took to the trees.
one was only about 80 yds. away in the tree.
and they gobbled for two hrs. while i sat and hoped something else would come in, but i tired of it,and i had to pee.
so i just stood up and gathered my decoys, and moseyed back towards the truck,
looking for mushrooms on the way,
and found some sheds too. thats kind of my coselation prize i guess.
sorry for the long drawn out story.
