Favorite places that are special
« on: June 21, 2007, 10:43:00 PM »
I know we all have our favorite hunting spots, but was hoping that you all could post some pictures of your special place that brings out the traditional spirit in you;

It can be any place like your hunting cabin, a wooded stream, a look-out place on a mountain,a sunset over a ridge, just somewhere that you call special; let's see those pictures; thanks to all;..........  :campfire:

My avatar pic is pretty high on my list.  It's know as the Bowl Stand.

Any place with wide open spaces, flowing tall grass, sloughs, birds (ducks, geese, grouse, pheasants), and a few deer to stalk.

All my favorite spots are just like that.

this is one of my favorite ridges to hunt, on the top of it is a well worn game trail that looks like it has been there forever. in the mornings i hear coyotes up there howling.

i have been hunting this mountain for 38 years. i found this little spot about 5 years ago during a thunder storm.

this has been our camp site for 10 years now and it feels like home every october when the leaves are painted in beautiful pastel colors.

self portrait while sitting in a stand called "Bamboo"....

my trail camera captured pics of several deer just 2 hours after i hung this stand and i killed a nice little buck out of this stand the very first time i hunted it.

The Mason Tract area just east of Grayling, Mi and the Sheepranch road area of Drummond Island,Mi are very special to me. I have been hunting these areas since 1964.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

Bear, I have to agree with you.  To me there is no place like northern Michigan.

Wonderful pics, captured some of the feeling you must get when you are there. Love this! I will be carrying my new digital camera this year. Hopefully I too can capture some of those special moments in my favorite bowls, ridges, meadows up in Oregon's Cascades or Blue Mts or Strawberry's....I better get started!

"There are places I remember
In my life, though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain."

I had a thread once, called "A Place to Rest the Heart" and I showed a spot where I used to explore or just sit and observe in the morning before going in to work. This place is now built upon, and they are still building.

This wonderful chestnut shelter, built in 1933, died a needless death through neglect by the Forest Service, and is no more.
