Hill Brace Height

I know that brace height differs from archer to archer. But, it seems that I my Hill Cheetah only shoots well for me with a high brace height. Where is your brace height set on your Hill style bow?

My 66" bows typically like around 6 1/4" give or take.

I shoot my MOAB at 6 1/4" brace height.

My halfbreed works best at about 7 1/8 (66" and 55@26)......every person, bow, arrow, combo is different and 7 inches isnt all that high. If you said 8 1/2 plus then I would think somethings a little off.

For my Miller LB, Schulz and my own, as low as possible. The feathers are 5-5 1/2", and touch the rest, with a brace height of 6 1/4 to 6 5/8".

OK, I have a question. My 68" big five likes a 6 5/8 brace height measured to the deepest part of grip. It has a very slight locator grip. If I measure to the back of the shelf, it's around 6 1/2. My question is, shouldn't all hills be measured to back of shelf due to the differnce in handle shapes? And yes I know that it really doesn't matter, I'm just referring to consistency for conversation and comparison sake. Thanks.

That's the way I do it, since longbows are typically straight handled, but I have a couple that are dished and one locator. BTW, they usually like around 6 3/8" to 6 1/2".

Recurves and hybrids are usually measured from the deepest part of the grip for me.

I just got my Robin Hood string follow 70 inch and the instructions that Craig gives with the bows says all HH bows should be braced 6 1/2 plus or minus 1/8.

I have a 68 inch Hill style bow that really seems to demand a 7" brace. There is no contour in the handle so I measure to the arrow shelf or any part of the handle and get the same measurement. I feel like longer bows can have a lower brace height. Also a 10 grain per pound arrow works best for me. Anything lighter flies erratic and increases hand shock. Much heavier and the arrow yaws in the air.
