Ed Bilderback info
« on: May 03, 2011, 06:59:00 AM »
As many of you know, we did an interview in the bonus footage of our new DVD with Ed Bilderback, who was Fred Bear's brown bear guide and one of his favorite people. Ed since passed away last September after a major stroke last year. Mark Mitten spoke with the Bilderback family again yesterday to learn that after Ed's passing, they laid him out in a brand new suit for the viewing and burial. Ed hadn't been dressed up in a suit for decades. BUT, get this, in addition to his new suit, Ed was buried wearing one of our "Brothers of the Bow" hats! I can only imagine what that looked like! Mark Mitten had given Ed a couple of our hats during one of their visits. Ed loved the things and wore one of our hats almost daily until the day they put him to rest. Is that neat or what?

What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from great loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to man. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the children of the earth

When he sees Fred again, Fred will want one of those hats.   :notworthy:      Maybe he'll trade Ed his Borsalino Fedora for it!!

Thanks for sharing Gene. Always enjoyed Capt. Ed stories.

I can picture him right now on the deck of the Valiant Maid shooting bottles out of the sky with a rifle!
