You bet NR can apply. Cost is $10 for everyone. If a NR is drawn they pay $300 for the tag but the success rate (all methods lumped) is about 76%. "Up to 10% of the permits can go to NR applicants". I don't think the 10% limit has ever been reached though before all the tags were gone because there are so many more Residents in the drawing. But what a cause!

Ha Ha Terry I got drawn! I figured I was just making another DNR contribution, but was one of 81 nrs out of the 11223 that applied to get drawn. I would have been happier with a bull tag, but I am happy with a cow archery tag. Now I have to find out who knows something about it, so I can make my choices for elk hunting area.

$300 is not bad for an elk tag. Gary

If I had applied to NM this year the tag would have been $700 so $300 and a couple thousand miles LESS for gas, looks pretty good!

TN's elk tags can be applied for until the end of May. Odds are a lot worse than KY though, only 5 tags total.

I just donated $40 to the cause for my son and my applications. A relative of mine was/is a top biologist in the KY elk restoration project, plus I have several friends who live in the elk units who could help put me on some big ones. You all know what that means, don't you?? I'll probably NEVER draw a resident tag:^(!

I was trying to remember if this was the first time I applied for elk in KY or not and I honestly don't remember, I apply for so much and so rarely get drawn, I just THINK of them as donations now.
