Finally!!!
« on: May 06, 2011, 07:21:00 PM »
This morning I strung up a 43# Bear recurve I have and managed to draw the bow numerous times without any problems.

Feeling confident in myself I strung my hunting bow, a 60# Blacktail recurve. Several months ago I tried to draw it and only got it 6-7 inches before the pain was too much. Taking several deep breaths I gripped the string and pulled it to full draw, charged with adrenaline I went ahead and pulled it several more times.

This might not seem like a big deal to most of you, but it's the first time I've been able to draw my bow back since last August just before I had a heart attack and quadruple bypass. So this is a huge accomplishment for me!

My collarbone is a little numb again, but I have the confidence now. I was starting to worry that this day might never come.

Today was a big day for me!    :archer2:

Congratulations, I'd say start shooting it. But only a couple arrows per day, don't want to over do things and have a set back. Take it easy and build up slowly. I'm happy for you!

Excellent! Glad to hear that. Take it easy and you'll be right back at it. Congrats on this good news!

Fantastic.  Take care, I know it would be deadly to not shoot the bows I love, but it would be worse to deadly it linger.  I speak as one who often regrets my impatience.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

I remember watching a 3-D shoot from the starting target after my first heart attack and how hard it was not to be able to shoot! It got better for me (not my shooting as it is a poor as ever). It is amazing how many little things you learn to appreciate after learning what "Code Blue" means.  I wish you the best on your recovery.

Don't rush things, take it slow and you'll be back at it. Glad to hear you are doing well. Slow and steady wins the race........    Keep shooting the 43#'er, best thing to work back to your old self!
