which spine.........help before they are sold out
« on: May 08, 2011, 11:14:00 PM »
I looked on GTs website and they say for a 53@28 recurve you need 5575. But some on here said definatly 3555s. Which one?  I tried ordering 5575s but I was too late, but I think there are 3555s left so I want to jump on them from bigjims for the gt trad blend

Anyone know?

Thanks
Fin

Fin,
There are a couple of more variables that we need to know.
What is your actual draw length?
What length arrow do you want to shoot?
How much point weight are you wanting?
All of these things either cause arrows to be weaker or stiffer than the labeled spine weight.

I have some 55/75 arrows cut about 29-30" you would be welcome to try.
No matter where you go; There you are.......

Im basically trying to get the cheap learner bow I have set up so I can start shooting and gain a little on the learning curve while shooting this summer. It will be 90% target shooting and 10% stumping and small game. No big game til next yr. Then im gonna work on a nicer bow

I think a 3555 with a 125 grain point would do for you, cut to 28.5 or 29", depending on shooting style. Keep it full length and then cut down slowly 'til it works.

I shoot 55# @ 28". 29" 3555's work well for me but 5575's do not. I use 125 grain heads.
The 5575's slap my arm and come out of the bow like telephone poles.
That said, everyone has a different release and bow setup. I'd start with the 3555's and change only if they don't work.

with carbons, the dynamic spine is very different that the static spine.  go light in spine, much lighter.

to hurry and buy arrows could be a waste of money and time .  Buy a test kit and learn to tune properly
