Let's see your fur tracers
« on: May 09, 2011, 08:18:00 PM »
I searched fur tracers last night and liked what I saw.  I already had a small order in my "cart" at 3 Rivers so I added some hot pink fur tracers. Should go well with my chartreuse and pink feathers.

Let's see yours!

Nice pics. Thanks guys.

How is the durability. I'm not overy concerned since $4 gets you a dozen, but it'd be nice if I don't have to worry about them falling off.

I  buy rabbit skins from Tandy for $2.oo each and make dozens and dozens of tracers. Put them on with barge cement and they hold up real good. Frank

Ahhh, the pretty blossums

I get mine from a fly tying shop.  I use duco to glue them on.

You can get a lot of colors in any fly fishing Dept. You can tie them on or another good use for fletch tape.

I use 1/4" Rabbit Strips that are used to tie flies. Lots of colors and pretty cheap. I like a nice ball of color, so I leave 3/4 inch or so between the fletching and the nock, then after applying contact cement to a strip and the arrow, I spiral it around towards the nock.

I prefer Pink or Chartreuse. They really show in flight, and I like the nice spot of color in the target.

Does anyone have trouble with good arrow flight after installing these?

I wrapped three arrows. They weren't grouping very well compared to my regular arrows. I can only assume it's b/c they're hitting the strike plate just enough to kick the arrow.

Do they cause erratic flight for anyone?

This thread made me order some!
Great looking stuff!
Does it really help the tracking of flight or finding the arrow?
