My Wild & Ugly Stalker Longbow
« on: May 13, 2011, 09:10:00 PM »
I started a post earlier this year about asking a bowyer to build a bow with some "different" wood combos. Combos others might think were wild or ugly. I love my Stalker recurve and the performance of South's line of bows, so I asked him to build me the following bow. 60" 48#@28". What do you think?

Honestly I love the limb veneers.  However, the riser does fit your criteria    That would take me some "getting used to"  :biglaugh:

I agree Gene. Years ago I saw a Quinn ad that had purpleheart on one riser and green actionwood on another, and ever since I've wanted those 2 woods together on a riser. Those are IdahoCurt's Tiger Myrtle veneers on the limbs. It should be here tomorrow! I can only hope to beat Kevin one or two targets a round, but who knows, maybe this bow will distract him!

The limbs are very pretty but I might have to put on a set of sunglasses to look at the river.  Very Bright to each their own

I like both the riser and limbs but not together. What you need is some curly maple limbs stained bright green with that riser or even black glass. But if you like it That is oko.

So Mike, you caught my plan early! Eventually, I hope to have, maybe, another riser and limbs with alternating color schemes that I could swap back and forth. As long as this one shoots as well as I expect it will.

You might stand out at the range but that's not always a bad thing. I like the contrast in materials.

That is nice, I really like it.....
Man how cool would a hero pic over a deer be with that bow draped across the deer.          :archer:

It should be hard to misplace in the woods.

Very cool.Red(reddish brown) and green are complimentary colors. When placed side by side they tend to intensify each other.Just basic color theory, I like it.

It's so freaking ugly you should send it to me to hide so you won't be seen with it. I have some tremendous hiding places.

Beautiful limbs!

The riser made me think of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Regardless of the woods, it is undoubtedly another great Stalker bow, and you have the only one like it.    :clapper:
