My new recurve
« on: May 15, 2011, 07:20:00 PM »
So about 2 years ago while on vacation in Hawaii, I picked up a block of Koa.  Always wanting to use it in a project, I decided to have it made into a recurve.  I contacted Don from Elkaholic Archery to see what kind of recurve designs he produced.  I shot a few of his recurves and they shot amazing, so gave him the block of Koa to work with.  After a few months of design changes/wood combination changes, he started on my recurve.  Got a phone call to let me know it was complete and picked it up last night.  Shot a few arrows through it to test it out, shoots amazing!!!  Now I sit here in my apt, it's pouring rain outside, just waiting to do some shooting.    :archer2:      I figured I would post some pics of this beautiful bow.  It is an Elkaholic Archery TD Recurve.  Koa/Wange riser with Bacote limbs and Carbon Fiber overlays.  Don made 2 sets of limbs for this bow, one set is rated at 44 lbs for target shooting and the other is rated at 53 lbs for hunting.  Enjoy the photos and thanks again Don, this bow is amazing.  Can't wait till it stops raining.      :)

Boy, that's a beautiful bow!  Has some special meaning for you too!  I'm always very impressed with the finish that Don at Elkaholic puts on his bow.  You can tell he's a real craftsman!  Thanks for sharing your pictures.

It's carbon fiber.  I used it on a kayak that I had built last year and thought it would look great on the bow.

Sweet lookin' bow there, great woods!

You might want to do yourself a favor and resize your pics to no wider than 640. They won't be up long if ya don't.
