Sorry, I guess I should have said go "out" to eat.
We circled to make sure the wind was in our favor and cominced to closing the gap. The way they had eaten down some of the wheat created a perfect stalking situation. I bent over just a little so I could only see there backs, when I could see there heads in the openings I would just wait a second for them to move back behind the wheat. I had the big sow at about 40 yards to my left and the pack of 100#'s about 30 yards ahead. The sow steped into a opening and looked right at me, luckily I was watching her so I wasn't moving at the time. She turned and headed out away from me. I continued toward the group in front of me.
I eased in another 10 yards and I could see a couple getting closer to me, another 5 yards and his head popped into a little opening. I could see he was one of the 100#'s and my buddys statment was stuck in my head "Which ever one gets close!". I eased my bow up and started to draw I had to hesitate because he turned almost walking away, then he turned back offering a perfect quartering away shot. I continued to full draw and let it go, "THUMP" exactly where I was looking. He bolted and after about 20 yards I saw him do a somersault! He is down! The rest of the hogs scattered but they didn't leave the field. I looked back at my buddy and hold up 2 fingers I wispered "Do you want me to shoot another one?" He motions "yes"! I stand back up and the sow is at full alert, I didn't want to spook them any more and they were on full alert so we just let them leave on there on.
This is the first spot and stalk success for me. I believe my "Brother" Chris was with me. This was like some of the stories he has told me! Hopefully by next time I'll have "Chris" arrow ready!
I have it on video, I'm getting it loaded to Youtude. I'll post a link when I'm finished. You can't see the pig but you can see the arrow and here the thump and squeal. It's only 9 minutes long!
Yep, I'm grinning like a mule eating briars!
