Hog Heaven was great this weekend. Had alot of fun with my boys, Luke and Ian as well as John Dill, Lee Hoots and Tim Antoine. We tallied up the hogs seen and came up with 70 plus pigs. As you read above, there were some very close encounters. Luke and Ian both had hogs under ten yards. Luke had a stare down at 4 yards with his boar and Ian missed a large boar at under 10 yards. Oops! I stuck a nice boar at about 18 yards and a sow I shot under at about 30 yards but killed a 30 pounder that was behind her by accident!!!! Dumb luck, mine good, his bad. I never knew I had hit another pig than the sow until we dead hunted her up and the headlamp shined up the mini-pig!! I wish I could have seen the expression on my face. I was expecting a 150 lb sow and got a key fob. The porkus dilecti was never visible to me in the cane. Lots of pigs, lots of fun and a great time had by all. Weather was really excellent for this time of year. Sunday was almost brisk in the morning. The place is really awesome, last year we killed 5 pigs for six hunters. This year we saw more pigs but didn't seal the deal as often! Nonetheless a fine time. Ian(copperhead95) caught a black racer.....again and Luke(longbowkid) had a king snake but the other half of the dynamic duo couldn't assist quickly enough and it slipped away. Tim ran across a LARGE canebrake rattler as well. I shot both hogs with my new Annawaekee Addiction Longbow and It performed perfectly! I really enjoyed it's light weight after lugging around my solid phenolic Bob Lee. Don't get me wrong, I loves me some Bob Lee but I shot this little 56" longbow of John Dill's and was smitten. I am not a longbow guy but you know what they say, "never say never"! Mine is 56lbs and fast, forgiving, good looking too! Bows are something like women, no reason not to have performance and good looks!
