Well a big congrats to Tyler for connecting on a dandy color phase!!! You don't see bears like that in NB!!!!

As for Jen, learn from the experience & don't let it bother you for long. I've tracked a lot of bears in my day & I can assure you there are alot more bears hit well & not found than you can imagine. You just don't hear about it because most people don't have the courage to tell anyone about it.

Terry, sounds like you had a great trip, "Eh"  Lol!

Jen, every bowhunter on here with any experience knows what agut wrenching experience it is to lose an animal you have shot with your bow. It happens, but that doesn't really make it feel any better and it shouldn't! Those folks that don't appreciate that they should feel bad in a situation like that simply don't understand. Terry, I am happy to hear you had a great hunt with your family at Ryan's operation. Ryan is definitely a guy I would like to hunt with someday! Congrats again to Tyler! Thanks for sharing this with us Terry.
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Congrats to the whole family on a fine hunt.It sounds to me like Mom and Dad have EVERY right to be very proud of Tyler and Jen.
That is one fine bear there Tyler.
Jen, you have nothing to be ashamed of.It seems to me you conducted yourself wonderfully. As you now know, sometimes you can do everything just right and the end result is still your worst nightmare.I have been there myself, and as many have already said years of experience do not make it any easier if things go wrong with the recovery.Your reaction to the great disappointment of not collecting your bear only shows the great respect you have for the animals you are hunting.Your commitment to your ethics is a good lesson for us all.

What a wonderful trip for your entire family!  You have so much to be proud of Terry.  A great bear for Tyler, and Jen showing the maturity of hunters many times her age.  As difficult as that had to be for her I have no doubt that she will make up for it in spades in the years to come.  Thanks for sharing the entire adventure in such detail!  Wonderful reading!

Terry Thanks for sharing with us.

Jen, I have seen you shoot, I know you are an excellent shot.  I mean you nailed 2 bottle caps in a row. The bear shot must have been a fluke, dont worry though, nothing goes to waste.

Good Bear Tyler, I would be ecstatic as can be!

Looks like a great time had by all.

ant wait for the vids.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

Wowwwww! An epic hunt shared by one of the finest clans on earth. Congrats Tyler, that's as beautiful an animal as roams the woods. Jen, I am truly sorry but you will come to see that the loss of that bear will be a lesson of value that will carry you in other events when things don't go well. You are a daughter that any mother and dad would take pride in. Hang in there and have fun at your prom. I    :campfire:

Thanks everyone!

Izzy, she was able to get a couple tickets to the prom and will be going this evening. I think that is taking her mind off of the lost bear a little bit!  :)
