Gettin after the fish
« on: May 20, 2011, 08:23:00 PM »
Usually this time of year, me and Dillon (HumbleHunter here on TG) usually get together and try to tear up big bass on the smaller lakes in my area. A few days ago we got after the rough fish with the bows!

Against all the Weather Channel advisories, we took to the boat at dark.  We at least waited until the lightning wasn't directly overhead, though!  Water visibility was about 2" since the South Canadian River was vomiting its contents into Eufaula for the past week. The wind had picked up, and the night was gonna be chilly, too.  Except for our good looks, all the odds were against us.

I only took a header into the water 1 time on this trip, when the boat came to an abrupt halt onto a big....something in about 3 feet of water. What made it even more stellar was the fact that I did it in front of a crowd of people. Luckily the generator, and Dillon's laughter drowned out the laughter coming from the spectators. But I never let go of my bow!

Around 40 fish were shot that night, mostly buffalo and carp, and a few gar thrown in for variety,as well as a few reptiles. Despite the conditions, we were pleased with our shooting.

Dillon shoots a Quinn Stallion and I'm shooting a Hoyt GM2 of the same weight.

*All fish were used as fertilizer for food plots, cut up and froze for trotline bait, or fed to my chickens.

Thanks for lookin!

Actually its kinda disgusting!! But I never get tired of watching it! I've thrown some freaky things into their run, and watched em fight over the best pickins!

Next hog I kill, I'm gonna see how well a flock of Old English can clean up a skull for a Euro mount!
