Help me dress up my Autumn Orange shafts
« on: May 25, 2011, 05:53:00 PM »
Well now that I have some Autumn Orange shafts I need some ideas on how they should be dressed up…I haven’t done any cresting but I’m thinking about getting one from a Sponsor on here or at Compton.

I’m thinking about trading for some turkey or goose feathers or buying  barred feathers and making them look right.

Please show me some example of what you’ve done with Autumn Orange shafts.

Thanks,

Josh

Josh, with that orange shaft I think some orange barred feathers would look great. Might even have to splice some white tips on them. You could crest some black/white and gray to pull it all together. Just a thought.

Wrap them rascals......and barred feathers always look good!

I can definitely give Mindy a call at Onestringer...I've gotten 6+ dozens of their wraps and if you've received a string from me lately you've seen their handy work on my return labels.  The current red ALS return labels are by far my favorite...top notch people and great products!

Thanks,

Josh

This isn't AA, but the colors would work.

I'm also for wraps. Besides all the beautiful wraps available now, it makes re-fletching easier.

Josh, those bring back memioires! I used to shoot those off my bear kodiak hunter in the 70s, I had 145-4 blade bear greenies on them! I shot my once in a life time buck with that setup! They looked good with 4-4" black shields!
But I also just got done doing up a set of gt trads with wrap from onestringer, the colors of wraps and fletch may look good on those! but i would reverse the wraps so the yellow is in front!

Note: the same bear greenies are on these arrows I just found them after 30 plus years of being packed away!(There going hunting again)
 Wraps are two fades yellow/orange

Don't have any good pics of them, but I dressed some Autumn Orange shafts with a brown nock and brown fletch and loved the combo.... but I like it simple.

My old Autumn Orange had 2 pink hens and a green cock feather.....ugly as heck but you could see them a mile away!!

Three blue barred bananas, would look great.

Cousin ArkyBob posted his AA shafts just a few days ago here:

'course it looks to me like he's turning into an Auburn fan, what with all the orange and blue.   :saywhat:    :saywhat:

Josh, what about a copperhead wrap from Scott and Mindy, a grey barred cock, brown hens, and an orange(maybe the older clear orange) nocks. Good luck.
