Colorado Muley Hunt
« on: January 12, 2007, 07:50:00 PM »
OK, Got one point and am looking for a good remote high country hunt.  Looking at 21,54,and 55.  Solo bivy I guess.  Anybody got any advice or insight on these areas?  I think some are OTC elk areas.  Anybody be there for that this Sep?  Will be my first CO hunt if I get drawn.

Thanks fellas!

Do you think you will get drawn in #54 with the points you have? I thought it took more than that for that unit(either sex). #54 is the only unit I have hunted in. If you draw let me know.

The Huntin Fool from last year said one point would gtee an archery tag for unit 54.  It may not now?  I'm still learning about this point business.  Where I'm from, $10 will get you a license to kill'm all.   :archer:

35 % draw on Units 54,55, and less  odds than that for Unit 21 last year. With the residents getting a larger percentage of the draw coupled with using banked points last year it lowered the odds for non-residents.  Good Luck! I haven't decided on whether I'm going to put in for deer this year. I hate paying 25.00 for a preference point when I'm already giving them 500.00 for an elk tag. The "habitat" stamp and 25.00 per preference point gets my blood pressure up. I paid $3.25 a gallon for 86 octane gas last year out there and almost the same the year before. Gas is always at the highest when archery season is going out there. Getting a little rich for my blood.

I figured it will be getting harder each year.  I'll only be getting a deer tag.  That's still my best draw option for this year.  Everything else I'm banking points on is much lower odds....mostly elk in other states.  Thanks for the input.
