help? ??
« on: June 25, 2007, 07:29:00 PM »
? is,
if i were to cut an gt carbon arrow down 2.5" from where it is, how much heavier can i put the broadhead?
i know 1" = 5# draw wt. but what does 1" = in added grains for tip weight?
my reasoning is i really want to shoot some simmons tree sharks this year. and to do so i need to add 50gr to my tip. i have 2.5" i could cut.
  please help!

Have you tried shooting the broadheads at your current arrow length?

2.5" is a ton on a carbon shaft, like a GT.  Even a quarter inch can affect them.  You'd probably be looking at another 100grains at least if they spine correctly at their current length.

It's been my experience that carbon shafts are very forgiving of changes in tip weight. That seems to differ from what some others are finding, but it's my take on it.

Shoot the head of your choice without changing anything and see how it works for you.

Work it back 1/4 inch at a time while using the broadhead.  2.5 inches is a whole bunch with carbons, a whole bunch!
