if you think about it, how the connexion hinge works and the limits of embedding it into the riser, vince does it the best way possible. not at all defending him, just saying it as it truly is. there will always be a slight bulge at the front of the riser and the grip will be cut in half. if you eschew the split leather grip for a roll down rubber one, the bow will "stick together" when unbraced ... NOTE: the bow in the pics below are NOT a typical mohawk where vince adds a wood riser front overlay veneer surrounding the hinge to "embed" it ...
the connexion hinge is a very solid, positive lock up t/d system that works no matter what the environment or conditions. it has absolutely no effect on shooting the bow. and, it allows the bow to be cut into equal halves - this can be important for stowage of longer longbows during air travel.
so yeah, for me this is the best t/d system out there so far. ymmv.
