stringmakers B50 question

Would 12 strand string be too small (weak) for a 55# bow and 26.5" draw in B50?

I normally use 14 strands for 50# to 60# bows,I use 12 strands for under 50#@28.Thats a good safe range,no real advantage going with less strands with dacron.

I agree with JRY309 although I do shoot 12 strand in my 2 bows listed below with no problems.
If you use less than 14 strand just pad the center serving to accomodate the nock fit.

It's strong enough, but you'll get more stretch and creep and I'd guess no noticeable gains.

I am using 15 strand right now, and do not want more creep. Thanks for the info.

It would be safe. I agree with everything said above. Good luck!

I can give no insight on Dacron, as i have not used a dacron string in eons. I just wanted to say "Hi" and i haven't seen you around for a while. I hope all is well with you and yours, Jeff.

No. I have been shootin a 3-ply, 12 strand B-50 since this past August. Bow is a 68" 58@27 Osage, mild r/d!
This was my first custom made bow, from 1987!
Still shoots great!

Jeff, there is always some creep with dacron. I haven't notice anymore than if it was a 15 strand string,! Mind you this bow stays strung, also! In it's infancy, it didn't!
I have shot F.F., 450-P, and dynalight on this same bow over the years. If you know strings and can produce them with quality, your in control, in a big part!
I would say, if you want a minimum, go with an endless dacron, in the same strand count.

I use 12 strands on anything up to 50# and 14 or 15 on 50#+. I don't make any bows over 65#. Almost all the stretch is gone after a 25# dumbell hangs from the string for a couple nights.
