Yardsale gem!
« on: June 11, 2011, 02:16:00 PM »
Was out hittin' yardsales with the fam this morning and came across and older retired gentleman in the neighborhood that fashions leather accessories as a hobby. He had a whole slew of different items, but this one caught my eye...

  In reality, it's not an archery armguard, but rather a cowboy cuff. But, for $10, I'll call it an armguard! I couldn't pass this up. My current armguard is fairly uncomfortable as the elastic tightening straps really dig into my forearm and is not easily put on and taken off. This cuff is not only a looker, but is comfortable and easy on/off! I'm tickled to have found it and thought I'd share!

That's a heck of a find!
It's also a symbol for protection.  Hope it will bring you safety whilst hunting  :)

Either way it's a fine looking armguard and a great find!

It's used as a symbol for protection in many cultures and religious faiths.
In Christianity it symbolizes the wounds of Jesus on the cross, if I remember correctly.
Other meanings/uses are;
Wu Xing/Chinese - The Four Elements and the Spirit,
Wiccan symbol of Positive Energy,
Mathematical Perfection in Ancient Greece,
Occultist Ward against Evil Spirits
A Babylonian symbol of The Five "main" Planets

...and lots of others  :)

Just do a google if ya want more uses/in depth explanation^^

Thanks again Svein. Interesting! I'll call it the christianity version   :)
To be honest, I originally just figured it represented my Dallas Cowboys!  ;)
