Didn't 3R post they were meeting this week or very soon to talk about this? It will be nice to hear for sure if it will happen and how long the wait time will be.

I'm still waiting to hear from 3Rivers.  I have the drawing ready that they need to make it happen, and all they have to do is ask for it. It looks like it would be a good seller for them.

Probably only a 5", since the goal would be to precisely replicate Fred's feather.  The surface area on his 5" is very close to what you get on  a longer 5 1/2" due to the greater height.

I've been in touch with Jonathan on this. No word from Bear yet on authorizing the chopper. If you can't wait, draw a template of the shape you want and order a custom built one. It only takes a couple weeks. In fact, if Gary traced his feathers......

Has anyone heard any updates on this?  Would love to have one of these choppers if they became available.

If anyone is still interested, contact Herb Haines.  He made me one a couple of months ago after I got tired of waiting for 3R.  His is modeled after the vario and in my opinion is a much better chopper.  I love it and the feathers are perfect.  I've been meaing to do a post but have been so busy.  Tried to add a pic but having trouble with where it is saved and photobucket.   :knothead:

FYI:  3Rivers promised to follow through with Bear and to also keep me posted, however, I'm sorry to say that I still haven't heard anything definitive.  I'm still hopeful as it might be a big mistake if they don't offer my idea to the general public (Which, BTW, I offered freely, even agreed to send them my drawing with no strings attached).  Things moved a lot faster when Fred was alive and at the helm of Bear, even later all I had to do was call up Frank Scott who would get the ball moving.  I long for the days of a solid handshake!

Gary the last contact I had with Jonathan was he was waiting for Bear approval. Seems his end is ready to move, just waiting on Bear. I believe you could send him the drawing and have it made without calling/modeling it as a Fred Bear Chopper. I really like the Custom Chopper they made for me!

I made my own version and have created enough of "Fred's feathers" to last a few seasons.  I was just hoping it would be marketed so other guys would not only have a nice design, but be able to carry a little tribute of sorts to Papa Bear in their quivers:^)

Still waiting on Bear Archery to give us the go on using the name. I send an email about once a week to every other week about this and also about bows currently on order. I am sending another email this morning.

Open to making a custom chopper for anyone wanting it right now. Just need a sample feather, or drawing on solid card stock.
