Sorry for the delay but as Curt said I just got off the river about 845 tonight. My wifes parents live in Florida and are getting along in years. Her dad had hip replacement a month ago so a visit was in order.I would only be there for two and a half days and was hoping to get to hunt one of them.I had called Hoppy Kempfer in S T Cloud and was lucky to book a one day hunt. The bow I made for this trip was an Osage take down made with supplies from Raptor Archery.66 in long and 48 lbs at 28 in.I was shooting cedar arrows I built with Ace journeyman 160 gr heads.Total weight 520 grains. I arrived at Hoppys at 530 am and we were off. After scouring the area for some time we did see 5 hogs in a wallow but were gone before I got close. After a couple of hours these were the only pigs seen. With my limited time to hunt Hoppy suggested we let a pair of his hounds out to stir things up a bit. After about an hour or so we still hadnt had any action and decided to head back and come up with a plan Just about that time we heard the some barking and took off running.I came up on quite a ruckus and after some peering into some very thick palmetos.I saw enough of the hog to get a shot off.At ten yards my first arrow buried to the fletching about 5 inches above the elbow. To my surprise he stood there so I knocked another arrow and let fly.The hit looked a little higher than the first and he busted out and ran about 20 yards and into a blowdown hole,As I came upon him I could see blood pumping out of his chest but if he was going to stand there,I was going to keep shooting. My third arrow hit basicly a dead hog and it was over. He weighed in at 170 lbs and I will be enjoying some sausage for the next few months. Thanks for posting my photos Curt.
