Just got off the phone with Ron LaClair at Shrew.
Prior to 2011 bows were cut 1/8 beyond center so -1/8
starting in 2011 they started to cut to center 0

Dave I included info in most recent excel I sent you.

I have turned the list into a pdf document. click on this link    Bow Center Cuts PDF
Depending on your computer set up you should be able to either open it with Adobe reader or save it to your computer.

Here is the link to   Stu Miller Dynamic Spine Calculator  page. To use the calculator you need to have Microsoft Excel or the Open Office spread sheet program on your computer.

here is the direct link for the   DSC instruction manual in PDF .  has great information and photos on measuring center cut, strike plate, internal and external footings and more.

I have a question. When you say 1/8" past center or -1/8", does that mean the bow is 1/8" wider than if the bow were cut in half right down the middle, or does it mean it is 1/8" narrower than if the bow were cut in half down the middle?

Dumb question I know, but the -1/8" is throwing me off. I always thought that 1/8" past center would be a bow that is 1/8" wider than center cut, but to my mind that would be +1/8".

Somebody set me straight.

If you were to mark the middle of the limbs and then look at where the string hits the limbs the string would be 1/8" to the right of the middle of the limb(if it is a RH'd bow). So cut to center or "0" would mean the string and the middle of the limbs would line up perfectly.

When I bought my Morrison Shawnee from Bob Morrison, he told me it was cut 3/16" past center.  FYI,  Steve

Here is some more help.  I just took this from Stu's directions for the DSC.  Bit fuzzy due to photo limits

Acadian Woods Custom Classic recurve -1/8
Robertson Purist longbow  +1/16
Toelke 2pc recurve        -1/16

If you are having a problem measuring your bow there is a great drawing in the "Instruction" section of the calculator, using a piece of string taped to your bow then aligning your bow string and the taped string to give you your measurement.

Has anyone measured one of the old Bear Kodiaks....say a 59 or 60?  Just curious what you have determined to enter in the calculator.
