Thanks for all the congratulations. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Loosing focus on "my spot" was definitely a lesson learned. It was difficut to swallow seeing my first arrow disappear well off the mark. However, to my amazement, the bear never reacted for 2-3 seconds allowing enough time to recover from the pit in my stomach and prep a second arrow.
Jeff, the first arrow passed through the neck with a Magnus 4 blade cutting trail the width of the main blade and passing through the bottom of the neck. I believe this actually cut the jugular but I didn't analyze to deeply. Second arrow hit the spine right at the base of the diaphram as the bear heading directly away.
For the hide, I will probably go with either a half mount, or probably a shoulder mount since he was a little thin on the bottom. Zack was kind enough to help me tube the front half, although we both may never try that again.
For those that haven't had the opportunity to hold a Tippet knife, Jeff is a true craftsman! I will be cherishing that knife for many years. Thank you Jeff!
