The hat is felt.
I picked it up at BP several years ago.
It was cheap but has held up really well. The price was around $20.
I made the band out of 550 chord and weaved it like you see the survival bracelets people make.
So I guess that makes my hat the first  emergency survival dual purpose hat.

Congrats again Whiteoaks , I think the change of hat by Mad Dog Mike changed his luck , last year he had the Viking helmut complete with horns which definitely didn't go with his F14's . Congrats Mike lets hear your story . Fred

Thanks GreyFox.
MD Mike is a hoot in camp regardless of his hat.
He's got a good story to tell if we can get him to write.

By the way Whiteoaks very nice avatar . You want Mad Dog to talk get him a 5 hour energy drink and then try to take your turn sleeping while driving to La Tuque . By the time it wore off and it was my turn to drive I was exhausted . He slept well enough for both of us though  , Fred
