Comptons, Grandchildren and a Den Tree
« on: June 20, 2011, 08:13:00 PM »
First off, I want to send a very big THANK-YOU to the Berrien County Sportsmans Club and ALL of the people that volunteer from the Compton Traditional Bowhunters to make this event happen. It truly is an enjoyable time for children of all ages....even us "adults" that refuse to grow up.

Every since last year when my oldest grandson saw the pictures that we took then and at 5 years of age said........."Pap, why didn't you take me with ya?".......I have been looking forward to making the trip north again. This time with both he and his sister. This thread isn't about me......nor any of us "grown-up kids" but for and about the future generation of traditional archers.

Aaralyn........the "Princess"

Jordan......my little "man"

Aaralyn's attention span at 4 years old isn't quite that of Jordan's at 6, but they are already looking forward to next year.......and so is their Pa-Paw.

He very proudly points out his arrows on the targets that he outshot me on.

Aaralyn is saving the baboon from the "crockerdile"

And it looks like he took one right between the eyes.

Saturday's event for the kids

Now that's a face full of concentration

One HAPPY bunch of kids !!!!

A few more from the Green course.

He said....."Pap, were having deer for supper"

Hamming it up for the camera from the back of a wild bronco

Smile for the camera.......horsie

And last but not least........the "Den Tree". When Jordan and I shot this course in the morning, we saw some people sneaking off the path towards a tree and they said that there were some baby raccoons peeking out of this tree. They scared them back in, but I let out one little call and immediately several small heads appeared in the slit in the tree.

Here's what was hiding inside

Had to quit calling......this little fella was coming to what he thought was "Mama"

Great pics Don. Greater memories. Sorry I missed you but I was busy making memories too. I didn't save them on the camera and I hope my mind will be strong enough to hold them for a long time.

Great job. The kids is what it's all about. We ran into those young racoons while doing the Trad shoot.

This is a real soothing thread through this aging Grandpa's eyes. Thanks, Winterhawk. It's why we play with bows and arrows and watch that same sparkle grow in the eyes of our children.

Had a chance to shoot arials with my boy Jordan, KHALVERSON and his boy Damien. That young lady next to me(Sandy) handled all of my harrassment and outshot me everytime I went against her. Great memories. This was Jordan's first Compton's and he had a blast.
