Hello Tradgang! After lurking for far too long and learning an absolute ton, I've decided it's time to get involved.
I live in BC's Lower Mainland, right near the Fraser River up here in Canada.
My archery story is pretty short so far. When I was 16 I thought archery was really cool and figured I should try bowhunting. The trad-style was the only thing that turned me on, with a few videos of Larry D. Jones as my initial inspiration.
Being young and ignorant, I bought myself a cheaper Internature 58" 50# recurve. Horribly over-bowed and shooting 2219 XX75s that are horribly over-spined I could never consistently hit my Black Hole target from even 10 yards away.
Fast forward a pile of years. I never lost the desire to do archery, and recently the spark caught back into flame.
Of course I'm not known for doing anything half-way, so I've got my first red oak board bow 85% complete, have a fletching jig coming and already made a few bow strings.
As for the shooting, I got myself a spot to shoot at a friend's farm. The sheer amount of information handed out about form and shooting the blank bale is amazing. I'm looking forward to posting some videos for your brutal criticism.
Right off the bat, any Tradgangers up in this area? A guy has to find those of like interest around him.
