rose oak shooters, please help
«

I just recieved a Puma Hunter from a member here, and this thing is a definate beauty. Feels great, looks outstanding, but is very LOUD. What brace height are you guys and gals shooting with these bows? I haven't had time to experiment with different arrows and there are no string silencers installed yet, I know that will help, but are there any tricks to quiet these bows that I haven't thought of?
Thanks in advance,
Jonathan

Every recurve is going to be loud without silencers. I like to use the rubber cat whiskers about 10 inches from the ends or the wooly wisps work good too. Set the brace at 7 1/2-8" from the inside of the grip. Mike

Play with the brace height and get it as quiet as you can, maybe use a heavier arrow also to quiet it silencers arent always needed, get it as quiet as you can then install some silencers if needed.

I can't imagine a recurve that would be quiet without some kind of silencers. I just tried the Bow Hush products (sponsor here) and they work very well, especially the Bow Hush itself, which deadens string slap significantly. There is a guy here in LA who is making strings for those bows now, and he says that his testing shows that a new string material called Excel (similar to 452) has shown to be the quietest on those bows. Good luck.

I also had same problem. Switched to a B-50 string, that solved the problem. Contact Rose Oak they are a sponser here. Great people they will help.

What I was saying was"get it as quiet as you can before you hang a bunch of junk on the string"
B-50, brace height, heavier arrow.

Yeah, call Brandon, and get the scoop....make sure the brace is correct, cause an incorrect one can be VERY loud.
Bow Hush will help you further silence the bow as it addresses string slap on recurves.

Thanks to all for the advice. I would also like to add that Brandon sent me a PM with some pointers. Not only does he build a beautiful bow, but he stands behind them.
Thanks again,
Jonathan

I agree with all the above, except that all recurves are loud without silencers. RER bows are quiet without them as well as Ballistik are as well and a few others too. Shawn
