Deer Health

It's been brutally hot around here and I'm sure it stresses any animal but I've been seeing this one young buck that just looks pathetic. Compared to the does who routinely chase him off and generally harass him he just looks skinny and sick.

What do you think?

Also, what about this?  Ticks??

Although i am by no means any kind of expert, i think that buck just looks like a normal 1.5yr old buck, with a summer coat, and that doe freaks me out!

Looking again at the photos I think you're right.

He just has hip bones and ribs showing and next to the does he looks emaciated.

The buck looks a little skinny to me...but that may just be the stress of the season. The time that's the workst for the deer is after all their winter feed is gone and before all their summer feed greens up. Hopefully he'll cover those ribs up!

As for the doe, looks like some kind of skin infection or parasite. Maybe call your local biologist and forward him/her the photos.
