Snake skin on a Bear!?

is it possible to snake skin back a old bear recurve? if i found one that i really liked, can it be done? who can do such a thing and about how much would something like that cost me? thanks

i would think , (if you can hang wallpaper you can skin a bow)...just my opinion.  :saywhat:

I've backed quite a few. The key is to get the finish off the back of the limb. Sometimes the old Bear finishes fail, sometimes they hold. Dont take the chance, carefully get it down to the glass.
If you are looking to resell it, not a great idea. MANY( I'm talking MANY) people have questioned what I'm "hiding" under the snakeskins.
 Whatever, you dont trust it, dont buy it right?
  I personally LOVE skinning Kodiak Hunters and Kodiaks. Copperheads look fantastic on brown glass.  A couple of 50+ pound mid 1960's Kodiak Specials got done also.  The Gainesville Green Grizzlys look great with green western diamondbacks or prairies on them.
Definitely do-able, they look great.

Hey Brad! Do it your self an buy you some arrows with the extra money saved. If I can do it any one can an i have done several bows.

cool thanks guys, i want to use copperhead, i thing it would look great on a super kodiak in the darker brown. how do i go about learning to do it? books? videos?

Do it yourself.  I just finished up my first one and it wasn't very difficult at all.
