Monty Browning book?
« on: July 01, 2011, 11:05:00 AM »
I remember hearing a couple of years ago that Monty was putting a book together. Does anybody know if it's still in the works? He has always been one of my favorite writers... he can really tell a story.

Heard not long ago that the book is still a possibility, not sure if this is still the case. I have never heard anything directly from Mr. Browning though. I for one would jump at the chance to own one.

I remember when he was telling me about writing that book. That was prob 4 or 5 yrs ago now. He definately is a great story teller! If he writes like he tells storys it may be a l-o-n-g book.

The last time I saw and talked with Monty was at the PBS Banquet in Nashville back in 2010.As I recall he told some of us he wanted to publish a book.I want to say he may have even referred to it as a "coffee table" book.I took it to mean a book possbly larger than normal that would contain stories as well as have lots of great pictures.People would keep it in their home for guest to look at and read when they visited.Monty is a great story teller, has a good sense of humor, and a very humble person.I dont think he had ever actually owned a computer at that time.I certainly would buy anything that he would publish. One of my favorite stories he told us on a previous occasion was the time he "gutshot" a house trailer lol.

Last time I talked to him he was learning to use a computer, JUST to write this book! I'm way overdue to talk to him, I'll try to remember to ask the book status.

I'd buy a book from Monty I doubt I've heard a better story teller.  Maybe some of the fellers here who have published books could give him some pointers.

My guess is that if Monty really wanted to right a book, it would have been done long ago, its certainly not for the money, he could have sold his name many times and refused to do so. I think all the people asking him to right a book makes him feel like he has to, he just dosn't like to toot his own horn.

The best story I ever hear told was about him and the sow grizzly when he told it at the Kalamazoo Expo.

Monty called me this past winter, and assured me he was working on his book.   He was planning on getting, or borrowing, a computer....just for this task.    He wants to do this right...like everything he does.   His plans are for a coffee table type book...picture heavy, and with stories.   Making a book that is a "financial" success is not even on his radar, it's just a thing he wants to do, and I have no doubt he'll accomplish it in his own time.
