my $.02 would be the Zipper, but I'm a 3-pc guy.  I've shot a couple of Centaur's now and had the opportunity to visit Bill's shop (Zipper) and have to say I LOVE his bows.  Quick, Stable, Sexy lines....and I love being able to go from recurve to longbow limbs on the same riser.

The Centaurs have their fans. Nice lines and finish. The Zipper also, great performance, unbelievable wood combinations, fanatastic grip, superb customer service, outstanding versatility. I've seen and held Centaurs, but I own and shoot several Zippers. Zippers get my vote. But hey, just get one of each!

Kasey,Trading a bow off you love for one you have no idea about is not a smart move in my opinion. The Centaurs are very nice bows, but ask yourself how many Centaurs do you see in the classifieds and then how many Zippers?

No longer shoot my Widow. I strictly shoot my Centaur now. Very fast and smooth.

I've seen a few guys over the years sell off or trade away a bow they love for one they "think" they will love better.....only to find that the grass ain't always greener on the other side.  I actually own 2 of those bows rt now.

I have 2 Centaurs now and have a third on the way, I like them that much and the same could be said for any make or model bow.  It an individual  preference and if you ask a hundred people their opinion/preference you gonna get difference answers and more than likely the one your looking for   :saywhat:   As for performance you're not going to find too many bows that have documented performance testing to back up the facts that a Centaur is fast, smooth and very efficient.  As for beautiful lines take a look at some of the past threads and compare they hold there own with any out there.  Are there other bows out there that can compare on these qualities?  Yes, but a very small percentage, so it boils down to what "YOU" really want.

And just to stir the pot some....

That was probably an easy switch, but I am a Centaur fan.  I never have had the opportunity to shoot a Zipper.

I would love to try a Centaur myself someday. But I would never sell off one of my Zippers to get one!!!  :nono:  They are by far my favorite bow out there. My advice would be to keep the SXT and just get on Jim's list. I believe the wait time is somewhere around a year.

Kasey,

You are comparing "apples to oranges". They are both fine bows, made by fine bowyers. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. I have shot both and I prefer a bow with some mass weight so the Zipper wins......hands down. I guess it falls under the "what you prefer and SHOOT BEST" category for me. Y.M.M.V.

The Centaur is the bow I measure all others by! For me it is the best bow out there. I had a Zipper from Bob Thompson, and it was a great bow too, but didn't like it as well as the Centaur. I had a Zipper extreme by the way. Steve

Same here. I really liked my Centaur but for me it was so light in the hand that I could not shoot it consistently.

Centaur are nice...probably over priced, but I guess nothing is over priced if people are willing to pay for it.  I think the Zippers are one of the best bows made, great price and most importantly, great shooters.  I have a Blacktail, BWidows, and a few other highend bows and Zipper don't take a back seat to any of them...I have 3!!!
