Most durable carbon arrow?
« on: July 02, 2011, 05:17:00 PM »
I am going to make a switch in arrows and want to ensure it is to a more solid product.  I am currently shooting CE Heritage 350's.  They are a good product for sure but I would like to shoot something else now, just time for a change.

In my wheelie days I shot ACC, axis, fmj, beman ics hunters, and quite a few others I am forgetting.  I believe the ACC was the most durable I tried but that is because I shot heavy poundage and never damaged one unless something crazy happened (shooting #80 compound for stump shooting can tear arrows up).

So, for those that have tried a few, what would you say is the most durable?

Thanks
Give me a bow a topo and two weeks, and I guarantee I kill two weeks!

I have always liked the ACCs you mentioned, even with my recurves.  Fabulous arrow shafts, they are tough but it is possible to bend them with a glancing miss...   :banghead:

I've been shooting Arrow Dynamics "Hammer Head" traditionals lately.  These are all carbon and seem to be amazingly tough shafts.  They are tapered and it looks like the taper is achieved by increasing the wall thickness in the front of the arrow which also increases FOC.  I have yet to break or bend one.  Great arrow flight out of my 56# recurve.

What spine does the 2016 fit?

I will probably get a dozen of the stiffest and then weight up front to spine out for my bows.  Hopefully I can make the same arrow work for multiple bows.

Thanks!

Fits a 340 Beman MFX or a 300 Axis

Ordered a dozen shafts from Big Jim to try, went with the MFX classic.

The CE heritage 350 is a tough arrow, but I have had a few break in situations I thought were questionable.

Thanks guys!

The 2016's fit my .500 spine MFX fine....David Bishop suggested I use JB Weld to secure 'em....worked great...they'll take a pounding and come out fine.

I've shot quite a few but nothing has been as tough as PSE Radial X-Weaves.

Both the CX and the beman are tough arrows and I like them both, but I don't believe the beman is nearly as tough as the CX.

Having said that, I can't shoot either of the heritage or classic myself since they don't make them stiff enough.
I am currently shooting the Gold Tip 7595's and the full metal jacket dangerous game. both are very nice and hard on game.
thanks, bigjim

As long as you foot them their all bullet proof.I use gold tips with 1 1/8 footing work great for me.

CE Heritage are the toughest I have found, I foot them with 1.5"s of alumimnun and they survive the Muzzy shoot which is a killer on arrows! Shawn

I believe that the CX Heritage is the toughest shaft I have seen. Their spine is also very consistent.
