Shot my Tall Tine today
« on: July 02, 2011, 05:56:00 PM »
I have had my new Tall Tine recurve for a month or two, but have not been able to get the time to shoot it. In fact, I strung it up for the first time and got started in tuning it. akaboomer was over to urge me on and help me get it set up. The serving is temporary, but I will shoot it a few days before I make it permanent. Boy this thing really is nice.

I still have to get some new arrows made for it, probably some GT 55/75's, but I will be shooting it and letting the string stretch into it's shape so it'll be ready by season. Of course, I need the practice too. But, I can see it is really going to be fun to shoot. It is fast and smooth. Here are a few shots of the bow.

Nice looking bow, Lin !!! There's plenty of time to get her tuned and ready for fall.

Thanks a good looking bow.  I have become fond of Charcoal Diamondwood.

I am thinking you will "need" to build a knife to go with beauty.

Sounds like a challenge to me !!!!

Watch that bowstring doesn't get too close to a good knife. bw

Lin, great combo.  Those black glass limbs SMOKE!  It is just so difficult not to get those beautiful veneers Brian puts on.  I may have to start doing half and half

No good knives around here!  :saywhat:

Brian sent me some of the riser pieces just for making a matching knife. Now that was nice.

I do think it's the long riser. It's about 18 inches. I said it before, but it's so smooth and fast. Chris (akaboomer) was impressed too. He's a great shot, by the way. He killed my deer target at 30 yards.

Thanks guys. I decided this bow was to be all business. Performance was what I was after, since I was going to drop down a little in poundage. Also, being a three piece, I like the option of having another heavier set of limbs if I ever decide to go after something bigger than whitetail.

Joe, it was hot, but we forged two bowies and two sets of tongs. We ate lunch and started getting the TT set up. I'm helping Chris with his knife making and he's helping me with my bow set up.

Lin, thanks for letting me come down for the day. I had a great time. I love your new Tall Tines bow, smooth fast and a great shooter. I can't wait to hear when she makes meat fo the first time.

Let me know when your ready to build some arrows.

Lin,

Looks like a long riser for sure...good choice    ;)

Here is a short riser like yours with some fancy Redwood Burl for you to ponder!
