Recurve For My Grand Daughter
« on: July 06, 2011, 01:17:00 PM »
Howdy.

My grand daughter, age 13, has showing a growing interest in traditional archery.  She currently has one of the fiberglass only 15 - 20# bear kids bows, but I believe that it's time to get her a better one. (~30#)

I did some searches, but with no success, so thought I start a thread.

Frankly, she needs a recurve to minimize string slap (a topic unto itself) and so far has only liked the Bear Kodiak Cub's appearance, but she's left handed and they have discontinued that product for left handed shooters.

At this point in her development I'd like to keep the priced under $200.00 if possible.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. (I did put a WTB post in the classifieds for a LH 30# Bear Kodiak Cub.)

Thanks in advance,
Kent

Thanks Drifter.

Believe it or not, just after I posted I remembered Maddog since he had done some retillering and refinishing for me.

I gave him a call.  Now it's up to my grand daughter.  I'm voting for a "Bumble Bee" riser with either black or brown glass, whichever matches the dark part of the riser wood, but it'll be up to her. (Sure would be "purty" though.)
