Anyone had any success shooting alum. from a cut to center longbow? I'm getting out of the wood arrows and looking cost effective options. It's a 60# northern mist

No problems what so ever shooting aluminums from any bow. I enjoy shooting wood arrows more than anything else for most of the year; but come hunting season all my broadheads are riding aluminum arrows for consistancy, toughness, weight and accuracy.

My 55# Fox LB likes 2018s with a 200gr. head a lot. It's not cut all the way to center but that don't seam to hurt.

An aluminum arrow can be shot from classic "D" shaped longbows, hybrid longbows and recurve bows. You'll just have to find the right spined one for your bow.

Ever notice when your at a rough rocky 3=d shoot, There's lots of trashed carbons, several trashed woodies, and once in a great while a trashed alum? Course I never have that problem. Foam don't break arrows.

Shoot a 53# Kempf longbow and have a 55# on order from Jack and I shoot 2117's. They fly great, total arrow weight is 525 grains with 125 gr Zwickeys.
I draw 27" and my 2117's are swagged, 28.5" in length. 5" Parabolic feathers, full helical.

Aluminum arrows are great shafts. I use to shoot legacy 2018's of my Tomahawk woodland hunter longbow. The only reason I switched to carbons was because on shots encountering bone the aluminums have a tendency to bend. With the carbons I just put in a brass insert and don't give bone a second thought.

I'm a longbow guy. They all love wood and aluminum. Seems the 2018 shoots well out of both my 50# Bama Royal and my 56# Hollenbeck.
Only complaint about them is they bend and are never as good again. They last the least longest for me. I do a lot of stumping and they just don't hold up as well as a heavy wood for me. Can't beat the price, ease of maintenance, and consistency though. I always have a dozen lying around.

I have always shot wood arrows Fir and cedar from my longbows. But i recently ordered some legacy 2117s and i am very impressed. They shoot great out of my 63# great norhern, and they all finished out at 568 gr. I may very well be hunting with them this year.

Try filling up the shafts with spray foam. It deadens the Hollie metallic sound quite a bit.
