Pastor Steve, Smoothness depends very much on bow design. There are several guys out there drawing 30" on bows as short as 54". That being said I don't believe that there would be that much difference between 60" or 62". If it would be at all possible I would try to shoot the bow in question and then you could decide if it draws smooth enough for you. Brokenwing

Yep--what John said.  Can't make the call on length alone, although generally speaking if you have two bows of the same design the longer will be a little smoother, a little more forgiving, and handle a little bit longer draw before stacking;  the shorter will be a little faster.

I have shot a whole lot of 60" and 62" bows over a lot of years. Last year I got a 64" CMH II and there is a world of difference in this bow and the others. Much much better. Hap

Pastor Steve it 's also a good idea to ask the bowyer what length he would recommend.

What kind of bow are you looking at; longbow or recurve?  I have a 29" draw, and prefer 62 or 64" recuves.  I find them smoother and easier on the fingers (pinch).  However, I have a 58" Robertson that I shoot pretty well, although not as well as the longer bows.  I don't shoot longbows, so I'm not qualified to give an opinion there.  Good luck.  By the way, John Willis said you live right up the street from him.  I'll be over there Monday to dip some arrows, and I'll bring some of my bows (58-64") if you want to try different lengths.  Paul.

I draw between 29 1/4 - 29 1/2" and i prefer the 62" bow in a recurve and a 64" in a longbow. I can shoot a 60" recurve with no problems at all but i just prefer the way the 62" feels.
