Bighorn scouting (more pics added)
« on: July 10, 2011, 07:13:00 PM »
Went up scouting this weekend, my season starts in less than a month.  Saw 400+ elk, a few deer, a fox and zero sheep.  This was my second time up and have yet to see a sheep.  Take a look at a few pics, it is going to be a great hunt.  That is Jimscol glassing.

Well, you sure have the right guy giving you a little glassing help.  Have you looked at the BP's yet?

Love those Columbine's!  There were tons of Indian Paintbrush out during my hunt.

I am still jealous of all you guys that drew sheep tags this year.  What a great hunt that is.  Looking forward to the sheep stories coming up from this in TBM

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Reminds me of my last years scouting trip for sheep, except I saw more griz than sheep and elk. Lots of darned old wolf sign as well.

Good luck on your hunt, sheep live in God's country. Take plenty of pics.

When does your season open there in CO?

Good luck, what beautiful country.  Amazing that you will be hunting sheep in a month.  Is that S-12?  I find it interesting how high those elk go to hang out, sometimes looking DOWN on the sheep.

Beautiful....I'm going on my first Elk hunt opening week in Co., can't wait to hunt the high country.

You have to love mountain hunting!  Those kind of landscapes really make a man feel connected to the earth.

Very cool pictures Mark. I am really looking forward to following this hunt as it progesses. Good luck!!!
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.
