Trad Bowhunter Hero....with a TWIST....
«
on:
July 14, 2011, 11:44:00 AM »
I know most of us had heroes growing up...in all sorts of different sports as well as hunting....And, there will be a follow up post later with a spin off of this original question...
Now, THIS topic/question is for those that are 30 years old and older....
Who is your Trad Bowhunting Hero that is
YOUNGER
than you
by at LEAST 10 years
. If all possible...the next generation down.
Being that if I just said younger...I would have to either think really hard about choosing one because there's lots of guys near my age I think a lot of. And, I might have to ask a few of them there age to make sure they were younger.
So again,
THIS topic/question is for those that are 30 years old and older....
Who is your Trad Bowhunting Hero that is
YOUNGER
than you
by at LEAST 10 years
. If all possible...the next generation down.
Mine is Randy Burtis. If you have to ask why...you haven't been paying attention around here. Cause I've stated it more than once.
OK...Your turn....

My brother. He is 28 (a little less than 10 yrs. difference) and has never taken anything larger than a rabbit, but has never even thought about touching a wheel bow.

Chuck "Tutuu" Hanson, originally from MT, now lives in Craig, Alaska. Chuck comes on here occassionally.
He has arrowed every Big-Game animal in Alaska except bison (near impossible to get a tag) and elk (limited tags). That means moose, caribou, black bear, grizzly, brown bear, muskox, dall sheep, mtn goat, Sitka blacktail deer.

Even though I've never met him I'm gonna have to go with Skyler. He's already a very acomplished archer and bowhunter and has a great group of friends around him. What more could you want?

I know a hand full of young hunters that would fit that bill.

Randy, gets my vote as well. I've known that "kid" for twenty years now. He turned into quite a fine young man, and great bowhunter.

I am not saying this guy is my Hero, but he has impacted my shooting more than anyone else in all of my 63 years. Rod Jenkins is a man who can improve the shooting of even an "old dog". I will ad that I have not attended his shooting class, I have improved by just listening and paying attention to him when we talk about shooting. I'd bet that if I ever attend one of his classes, I will improve even more.

Another vote for Ryan (Stickflinger) from me...the fella was raised right, shoots a bow like most of us wish we could, and knows not only how to hunt, but how to get others hunters close to critters

I have two. My number one pick would have to be Kenneth "Spanky" Neal and my close second would be Nathan Steen.
I don't know of any other two pups that are as dedicated to being as true to old style archery than these two.
But there are other characteristics that would also make them both good candidates. (IMHO)
God bless,Mudd

My son Andrew. He is 30 years of age and I'm 68. He has done more to keep me in archery and bowhunting all of these years. Don't want to forget my other son, Bain. Bain got me started into archey and bowhunting many years ago and I am truly grateful. Outside of family I would have to say Lee Robinson of Keep It Simple Archery. Lee has helped me out alot over the years.
