Any 43# @ 29" Recurve Shooters? (Got it!)

If so, could you share your arrow setup? I.E. length, tip weight and shaft type. I am having some difficulties with a 60", 40# @ 28" Martin Dream Catcher. I pull 29" so, I'm assuming it is near 43#'s. I don't have a scale to measure it. Thanks in advance.

I'm shooting a Trad Tech Titan about 43lbs at 28" I use 3555 Gold Tips cut at 29" with a 125 point also use Carbon Express Heritage 150 29" 125 point, hope this helps some.

GT Velocity shafts full length with aluminum insert and 145 grain FP 385 total wt and approx 8.7 gpp.  The shaft will be 30.5 to b.o.p and fly great out of a 40#@28 Centaur Elite.

I have a Black Widow PSA that is 44# at 28. I draw 27" and can shoot either the
carbon Express Heritage 90 or Gold Tip Trad 15/35 at 29" with a 125 grain tip. I think the Gold Tips probably fly a little better. I an go up to a 175 grain tip on the Heritage and they still fly fine.  Hope this helps.

GT trads - 35/55 full length (30 1/2") with 50 grain brass inserts on the business end. I can shoot either 125 or 145 grain tips just fine.

#46 @ 29" on a morrison riser with a velcro plate, full length GT35/55 with 100 grain inserts and 250 grain in front of that. It should be weak acording to the charts but bareshafts and fletched hit the same place.

RER 40# @ 28 I draw 29+", 60-65 cedars 125 up front left full 32" Then tapered for nock and points. Shoots great.........Have shot 50-55 cedars also same set up! Both are 600 gr.

I've found that GrizzlyStik Sitka's fly the best out of all my lower 40's bows, longbow and recurve alike. Of couse, bow, string material, string silencers, draw, etc. will determine arrow length and tip weight. But still, Grizzlystik Sitka's make up the bulk of my lower 40's arrows.
Plus, at some 40-43lbs, Sitka's allow you to come in around 10gr's per inch, with great FOC.

Exactly my 40@28, draw to 29 setup. But GT Trads for the shafts.

Ok, here's what I am trying to get tuned to the bow. GT Hunter's 3555 cut 30" bop. I think aluminum inserts, 3-4" parabolic feathers and a 450+ string. Now, I've tried 125gr, 145gr and 175gr tips. Arrows just don't seem to want to cooperate. Could it be my release since I predominately shoot a longbow?

Brace seems a little high for a LB but if you've found the tuned area the brace height is fine.

I found, for me, that I need two nock points. If I have nothing under the arrow nock to hold it in place on the string then I can't get good groups. I also see arrow kick like nock low and the shaft is hitting the shelf as the fletching passes the shelf. Putting two string nock points on all of my bows has tightened up all of my groups on all of my bows. Otherwise my patterns are spread out and the flight of the arrow looks  bad.

My release isn't all that great no matter what I've tried. I shoot two under. The double sting nock was my answer.

Do you think they're showing weak or stiff? You may only have to tinker with brace height.

Bud, Shawn(Ringneck) ran the figures for me through Stu's calc. and it is showing that the 125gr head should do the trick. I raised my brace to 8 1/4" and will tinker with it tomorrow. I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

The 145gr seemed to make the arrow weak but, could also be my imagination.   :rolleyes:

I shoot a very similar setup except I have a 30" draw length.  I am definitly not an expert, but the best thing I did was buy one of the test kits offered by the various shaft manufacturers.  With the kit, I was able to easily bareshaft tune my arrow set up.  Before I got the kit, it seemed to be very hit and miss

I have a Wes Walllace recurve that is 44 lb @ 30" draw.  I shoot 60-65 cedars, cut to 31" BOP, with 125 gr heads.  I can also shoot 31" 2016 aluminum with 125 heads out of it.

i have a 58" 43@28 curve and i shoot beman 500 hunters at 30" with a 200grn head and it flat rocks my arrow arrow weight is 477grn and it works for me

I shoot 40-43 pound bows 35 55 works good. 2013  works good for me.
