New Look For My ACS 'S
« on: July 16, 2011, 04:10:00 PM »
I have always shot my 14 in. risers with a beaver tail wrap. Now that I have switched to 12 in. and Rc risers I needed a way to have a non slip grip to match the contours of the riser. After looking at the great Centaur stippling and Michbowhunter's how to thread ,I felt ready to carve on a $500 riser   :scared:  .

 Riser  1

Riser 2 I added some curly vine thingies

then I added some cotton mouth skins ( from Snakewood) to my 62 in. limbs.

I wasn't sure how the cotton mouth skins would look on black glass , but they turned out great.

Bill

Very nice job.  Skins are great.  I especially like the bolts, that's detail....

Bill, what did you use to re-finish the riser?

God Bless,  Pierre

Thanks for the compliments guys. It was a fun project. I relly like the feel of the grips. I lightly buffed the stippeled grip area and left the throat plain for a good feel. The risers (and limbs) are finished with Thunderbird.
