Gold Tip Tip Grip removal?
«

Anyone ever have any luck with this stuff? I was attempting to install some inserts with it after a quick dry run to make sure all was gonna fit and the inserts wouldn't even go all the way in. Now I'm stuck with a couple carbon arrows that i can't remove or install the inserts, even with heat...
Any tips or tricks that you guys or gals have used to remove them? If I can get them out I'll use hot melt next time. And yes I was doing it quickly...

I don't know how to get it out but I had the same misfortune as you when I first used the stuff. You have to be quick when you set your inserts but I'll tell you I wouldn't use anything else on my carbons after I've used it.

Take an insert tool and heat up the end orange hot. Next screw it into the insert quickly and it will soften the glue enough you can pull it out. Just be very quick about it so you don't damage the carbon. That's the best way I've found to remove them.

Would a super-hot field tip work as well? I don't have an insert tool yet, just switching over from woodies...
Thanks for the replies!

I've never tried it with a field point. It could work but it would be harder to get a hold of the field tip with pliers than it would be to use an insert tool.

Yes, the field point will work. Just make sure you pull often as you are heating the point so the insert gets pulled and the heat is removed from the shaft as soon as the glue gets soft!

If you cut wood, a 7/32 chainsaw file fits in a carbon shaft. If I get a insert stuck I remove the nock and drop the saw file down the shaft a few times to remove it.

Iuse a brass screw to remove inserts, screw the screw into the insert and take a torch and heat the screw till you are able to pull the insert,
be sure to use a brass screw, it transfers heat very quick and evenly. just be sure not to overheat.
