Simmons shooters,give me some feedback.

I am wanting to give the 160gr. Landshark a try and was wondering if you guys has some feedback on them. I will be shooting them off a 47# Pittsley Predator and 28" Goldtip 3555. Been shooting the Magnus 1,1 1/2"cut and have not had any penetration issues.

Robert... I had to go look at the Simmons site so I'd know which one you are talking about. You won't have a bit of problem with the Landshark.

My only experience with the Simmons is with the Interceptor and it does an excellent job. My preffered broadhead is the Magnus I w/bleeder.

I started shooting Simmons broadheads in 1990 and haven't looked back. I have mainly used the 160 Landshark over the years, but I have taken several deer with Interceptors (both Original and Vented) as well as Tree Sharks.  I have never had any penetration problems with the Tree Sharks, much less the Landsharks.  All of the Simmons heads fly great as well.

I'm looking forward to shooting both the 160 and 125 grain Land Sharks this year. and quite possibly the 190 Intersceptor for my fall bear hunt. The people I have talked with that have first hand knowledge of these heads all rave about them and their massive blood trails.

The 190 gr. Interceptor is my all-time favorite head.  Flies great and cuts a big hole.

I love them! They make big holes that all of my compound friends are amazed by.  Pictures of the the Interceptor and easton arrow that I shot my first deer with and the Tiger Shark and pine shaft made by Troy that I took my first deer with using wood arrows.

will the interceptor screw on to a 2216, some one told me the blades hit the shaft and a smaller dia. shaft was needed...  thanks

Dave, you won't have any problem with 2216's....These are great heads. I've shot the 160's for about 16 yrs. and have had great sucess on critters big and small.

Wow!That is what I am looking for. What a blood trail and on a hog at that. Anymore, Simmons wound pics like that out there.

No problems with shaft size.  I used to shoot them on 2419's.

Sombody posted some interceptor damage on trad gang a couple months ago, ive seen first hand what they do, they are like flying hatchets, havent had one that did'nt fly well.

Guys and Gals, I'm not giving the "thumbs up" to take bad angles, un-ethical shots, or the like, but anyone who's bowhunted very long knows that it happens. Personally there's nothing I'd rather have on the end of my stick, when it does. Don and Sky

i guess i will be the person that goes against the grain, i didn't like the 160's i shot a pig and a deer with them, it bounced off the opposite rib,and i had minimal blood trail. the only reason i found him was i had a lumenock on and the deer ran into a field and i was able to see the light from my arrow at night.

the pig was never recovered. i have video of the shot to verify the hit. i did stick out the other side so that was a plus. and i had a good blood trail for about 400-500 yards, then i lost it.

if i bought more sharks i would shoot the interceptor or the tiger shark, they have the same cut radius but are longer so you get more of a 3 to 1 ratio. and i would buy a wheele sharpener or the crockstik sharpener.

i think they are built strong and i might give them another try later, right now i am shooting muzzy phantoms.

Yes; the Interceptor, Tiger Shark, Landshark, and Treeshark all come in glue on versions.  The glue on models are a bit stronger than the screw on versions.

I guess my other question is can these be sharpened on a Tru-Angle set?

bm22 how did the broadhead bounce off the rib and stick through the other side? Would that not have severed the rib to go through?

I've had the ferrule fail on both Interceptor and Treeshark with the screw-in model.  I'd use the glue-ons if I were you.

I ordered some of the glue-on 150 gr unvented tigersharks this past week.  I must say it is a very impressive looking head.  Have only put one on a shaft, it took all of 30 seconds to get it to spin true.  Took about 2 minutes on my paper wheel that I have on a six inch bench grinder to get it scary sharp.  Can't wait to shoot something with it, should make tracking in the pine thickets around here much easier.
