17/64 inch field point selection

Ok....wanting to add more weight to the front of my Beman MFX Classics (600 spine).  I've only been able to find field points up to 125 grains.  Is there a source for points in that diameter that are heavier?

I know I can go to longer shafts but I'd like to add weight to the dozen arrow I have NOW if possible.  I'll also add that I am already using the 75 grain H.I.T. insert by beman.

What other options do I have for adding more weight up front WITH field points?

Chris....most field points are available from sponsors such as 3R and Kustom King up to 250gr. and some places you'll find as high as 300gr.  These are tapered at the back of the point to match the diameter of the MFX's and other small diameter carbons.  If they're just a little too large for the .600's you can always foot the shafts with an inch to 1.5" of an appropriately sized aluminum shaft which certainly extends the life of these expensive shafts.  Kinda like this:

For a 17/64",they just isn't a big market for heavier points in that size.The closet would be an Easy pull for a 9/32" which you can get up to 145 gr.,that is only a 1/64" larger.You can buy them at 3Rivers and Kustom King.

3rivers carries 145gr field points for the Beman MFX's. That's the heaviest I know of. I'm hoping to find some 160gr screw in field points...... even if they are 5/16's.......... seems all the screw in field points go from 145/150 to 175gr.

PDP makes a 175, 200, and a 250gr head that will work on the MFX shafts. All are tapered on the trailing end to use with smaller shafts. Right now I'm using the 175gr on MFX 400 without a problem. I'm also playing around with both the 200 and 250.

You can also pick some of the broad head rings then all 11/32 heads/field points will fit nice.

Yeah, I'm shooting some CX predator 700s and I'm shooting full length. I'd like to shorten them up a bit and use 145 grain points. i'm not sure how well the back tapered points will pull out of targets. I know that just a tiny bit of difference between a larger point and a smaller shaft makes it harder to remove the arrow. I wanted a little more foc for those shafts. Oh well! Puo

Let me refraze that. The 175 BT points aren't that hard. The 200 and 250's are alittle more of a pain. The 200 and 250's are close to 11/32" in size and back tapered to 5/16" or slightly less.

There is also a 100grain brass insert.3Rivers and most other vendors.

If you know anyone with a metal lathe you could buy the larger ones in heavy weight and have them turned down.

You can turn them down yourself by chucking the head,point first in a drill press or drill.run the drill and use your broadhead file to taper the back of the head.On the ones that are already tapered for 5/16",you will lose app 5 grains of weight.

The suggestion about putting the aluminum footing on the shaft is a good one.I don't shoot a carbon arrow without them.It makes an extremely tough arrow.A 20 diameter aluminum shaft is 5/16" diameter.
